Environmental Advisor

Working for the operator of a multi-billion dollar greenfield LNG development this Darwin based role will help ensure that the project is constructed in accordance with the environmental requirements and commitments contained in the permits, approvals, documents, plans and drawings relevant to the onshore scope of work.

 

Key responsibilities of this position include: 

  • Provide oversight and guidance to Contractor in the day to day environmental compliance program in the field, including compliance with the Contractor's Construction Environmental Management Plan and associated sub-plans.
  • Supervise and provide guidance to Contractor's environmental coordinators, inspectors and/or officers assigned to assist in field compliance activities.
  • Provide advice, technical assistance and environmental support to the Onshore construction and engineering team, including review of environmental management plans for both marine and terrestrial components of construction activities.
  • Provide interface between construction personnel and Contractor on environmental requirements and permitting, principally in relation to stormwater controls; flora and fauna management; dangerous goods storage; waste management; camp construction and operation; site rehabilitation; and environmental monitoring and reporting.
  • Provide environmental support (as required) to the Government Approvals Manager in delivering approvals for additional project related approvals.
  • Provide additional environmental support as directed by the Site HSE Manager.
  • Manage and supervise Environmental Officer(s) on site, as required.
  • Assist in the management of HSE planning and implementation for field based environmental activities.

 

The following Qualifications and Experience are a requirement of this position:

  • Bachelor of Science or equivalent (essential).
  • Demonstrable experience in the construction of large scale Greenfield projects.
  • Demonstrable experience in managing and mitigating environmental impacts of field construction activities.
  • Sound understanding of the oil and gas business.
  • Previous  managergerial/supervisory skills within an environmental department.
  • Sound understanding of Australian environmental laws and processes.
  • Experience with major project construction (desirable).
  • Minimum 7 years experience.
